Welcome to Year 5 - the Honey Bee Class
The Class Teacher is Mrs Hodgson and the Teaching Assistants are Mrs Maw and Mrs Wilson, and Mrs Duncan will be teaching the class one afternoon a week.
Every class at Wyberton Primary Academy is very special, but this exciting class have an extra 'buzz' as in addition to covering the Year 5 Curriculum, we will also be making the most of Wyberton's apiary and using the bee hives to learn about the life of bees, completing inspections of the hives and exploring why these creatures are so important to our beautiful world.
We have a very exciting year ahead and through our learning we will become artists, explorers, scientists, historians, authors, mathematicians, musicians, athletes, geologists, problem solvers, entrepreneurs, designers...the possibilities are endless!
During the Autumn term, we will be working to answer the question: Which is more significant – the survival of humans or the natural world? Our starting point and class novel will be ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine Rundell where we will make numerous links to our science and geographical learning in order to debate and compose responses to our enquiry question.
